• Invitation: I used pink card stock and small print floral origami paper to create handmade Hawaiian shirt invitations. I drew on the origami paper the collar, front shirt opening, and buttons. • I got clear party bags and partially filled them with play sand and shells from the dollar store. They have great bowls of beautiful shells for only a dollar and they looked very exotic. The actual invitations were individual flowers printed and cut from card stock strung on orange raffia. Each flower had part of the information for the party on it. Ideas for Tropical Luau Party Decorations:

• We got two 8' metallic palm trees that were suspended from the ceiling, a dozen hibiscus-patterned lanterns, an "Aloha" sign, and tissue paper palm trees and hula girls for the table. I found a CD of traditional Hawaiian music at Best Buy.  Angela in gaithersburg, md usa  #12807

• On one of our walls, we used a blue tablecloth to be the sky. We then used cardboard to be the sand. On the "sand" we used 5 green poster boards cut into grass shapes on the bottom, and then made flamingos using 3 hot pink poster boards going along the bottom. • I have a great friend who used a jig saw and made 2 giant(7 feet tall) palm trees out of wood. She attached 3 wooden coconuts to each tree. I leaned them at the entrance to our front door. • There were chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-A with Polynesian sauce of course and crust-less sandwiches of egg salad, chicken salad and tuna salad. Lisa in Jacksonville, Florida  #9449

• The exterior of the cake was decorated with a Hawaiian girl that turned out just beautiful. A lot of the decorations where sculpted out of marzipan. He even put a palm tree on the cake and had what looked like small coconuts fall off the tree. Terri in Metairie, LA USA  #8900

• "dress up relay". We went to goodwill and found a male outfit, which included: a hat, a shirt, pants, shoes, and a tie. The female outfit included: a hat, dress, shoes, purse, and a necklace. We split the 4 girls from each team on different sides of the yard, and they had to put on the outfit, run to the other end of the yard, take it off and hand it to their partner, who did the same thing.
